Esmeralda Valdez, Ph.D., CASP, is a seasoned professional in higher Education with over 30 years of experience. She currently serves as the Executive Director of University Services at the University of Houston. In this role, she oversees the strategic planning and management of several campus service departments, including printing and mail services, campus card services, business operations, auxiliary facilities operations, and performance center operations.
Throughout her career, Dr. Valdez has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving student success and access. She has developed and overseen numerous strategic business opportunities, negotiated contracts, and ensured compliance with operational policies and procedures. Her leadership extends to collaborating with various departments and the broader community to enhance the overall experience for all stakeholders.
Dr. Valdez plays a significant role in the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS), having served on both the NACAS Board of Directors and the NACAS South Board of Directors as the representative for the South Region. She has received numerous distinguished awards, including the NACAS South 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award, NACAS 2022 Volunteer of the Year Award, NACAS 2020 David H. Lord Scholarship for Community Services Award, and the NACAS South Regional Mentor Award in 2020.
Dr. Valdez is certified as an auxiliary services professional (CASP) and earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies, along with a Master of Education in Administration & Supervision- Higher Education, both from the University of Houston.
