Michael Sheron, Director of Privacy, Governance, Risk, and Compliance at the University of Kentucky, has a varied background of experience including a Bachelor’s Arts in Theatre and a Master of Art in Theatre from the University of Kentucky where he has worked as a Stage Director in a number of shows. He taught Krav Maga, an Israeli form of Self-Defense for over a decade. He has spent 28 years working in information technology ranging from database design and implementation to desktop support to his current role where he is responsible for securing the privacy for all the University of Kentucky’s students, faculty, staff, partners, and enterprise data. This involves ensuring the university’s data collection, storage, use of data complies with the relevant laws and regulations the university is subject to. These regulations include, but are not limited to FERPA, GDPR, GLBA, PCI-DSS, ITAR, and Kentucky’s Privacy Laws.
