Vice President and General Counsel

Travis Powell is Vice President and General Counsel at the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. Travis manages all legal matters for the Council and oversees the licensure of private colleges, Council diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, human resources, and efforts to advance Kentucky State University per HB 250 (2022). Prior to joining the Council staff on November 1, 2011, Travis worked in the Office of General Counsel at Kentucky’s Finance and Administration Cabinet for 5 years and served the last 2 ½ years as Deputy General Counsel. He received his undergraduate degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College and earned Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Kentucky.
