  • The Beginners Guide to Insurance & Risk in Higher Education

Biography:

Anita spent nearly 30 years of professional risk management and insurance experience in corporate and higher education to the account. She has extensive experience with the design, implementation, and oversight of enterprise risk management programs, serving in public, private and non-profit sectors. Her expertise includes property and casualty insurance, claims, loss control, business continuity and emergency management. In 2018, Anita designed, and continues to teach enterprise risk management to undergraduate students at the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at University of Cincinnati. Her course involves training and partnering students with local businesses to perform enterprise-wide risk assessments. In 2022, Anita transitioned from assistant vice president & chief risk officer at the University of Cincinnati (UC), to full-time assistant professor and educator faculty at UC, teaching courses in management and finance.. Anita was President of the University Risk Management & Insurance Association (URMIA) in 2014 and was recognized by her peers as Distinguished Risk Manager in 2018. She was also listed with Business Insurance magazine’s “Top 25 Women to Watch” in 2014. The Risk Management Society (RIMS) Dallas-Fort Worth chapter recognized Anita among the region’s “Top 8 Risk Management Professionals” in 2012. Anita currently serves on various non-profit boards, including the Ohio Valley Chapter of the Risk Management Society. Anita received her associate degree in business administration from UC Blue Ash College, her bachelor’s in operations management from UC, her master’s in business administration from Xavier University, and her master’s in theological studies from Southern Methodist University. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education degree in Organizational Leadership.
