Biography:

Jason Wheat is a Security Operations Manager and retired U.S. Navy veteran with more than 20 years of experience in information security across defense, consulting, healthcare, and higher education. He specializes in security operations, cloud and endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and incident response within complex hybrid and enterprise environments. In his current role, Jason leads security operations initiatives, overseeing threat detection, incident response, and proactive threat hunting while strengthening organizational security posture through technologies such as Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, Splunk, and Azure security services.

Throughout his career, Jason has helped organizations implement zero-trust security controls, enhance vulnerability management programs, and align security operations with industry frameworks including NIST, CIS Controls, and ISO 27001. Prior to his current leadership role, he served in technical and management positions with the University of Kentucky, Deloitte, STERIS, and during his 20-year career in the United States Navy, where he directed secure communications systems and led teams supporting mission-critical infrastructure.

Jason holds a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity Management and Policy and an MBA.
