Tristan is Assistant Treasurer for Risk and Insurance Management at Columbia University, where he leads the University’s enterprise approach to risk financing, insurance strategy, and operational risk management. In this role, he oversees programs that protect the institution’s people, assets, and global activities, while strengthening risk awareness and resilience across the University.
Previously, Tristan served as Senior Director of Financial Operations and Strategic Risk Management and as Director of International Risk Management at Columbia, where he led efforts to assess and mitigate risks associated with the University’s global operations and travel.
Prior to Columbia, Tristan was a Special Agent with the U.S. Department of State, with long-term assignments in Yemen, Afghanistan, and Israel.
He holds a BA from Kansas State University, a JD from the University of Kansas, and an MA from Columbia University.
